What do you mean by lifestyle photography?
Lifestyle photography aims to capture people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner and the art of the everyday. The primary goal is to tell stories about people's life or to inspire people in different times. I love shooting portraits in the woods or by the beach as much as shooting a portrait in the studio. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are such a beautiful areas with so many great natural spaces for photos, I love discovering new locations to shoot! Some of my favorites right now are Valley Forge Park in Pennsylvania, the banks of the Delaware River with Philadelphia as a stunning backdrop, and Palmyra Nature Cove Park.
Where in New Jersey are you located and where do you cover?
The boutique studio space is located in Palmyra, NJ, steps from the Delaware River and the Riverton Country Club. I regularly cover all areas of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware and am happy to travel throughout the country (and out of the country).
We don't live in New Jersey, would you still be interested in shooting our portraits?
Of course. There may be a charge involved for accommodation depending on your location, but I will quote this to you at the time of booking.
How much do you charge for prints and products?
Prices can be found here.
How do I book you?
Contact me with details of where you would like your photoshoot to take place and a list of dates you are free. I will then reply to arrange a date for your shoot and send a contract for you to complete and return. Once the date is confirmed and contracts are signed, full payment is required to reserve your time.
What should I wear?
The simple answer is something that makes you feel good. I have created a guide to portraits that you can download from here. This gives you advice on clothing and makeup as well as letting you know what to expect from a photoshoot.
Are you insured?
Yes. I am fully insured.
I have seen photographers offering a family photoshoot and all of the images on CD for $50. Why are your prices higher?
Many photographers charging such low rates are what "shoot and burn" photographers; they take photos with a lower quality camera and burn the unedited photos to a CD. My prices reflect the investment in quality and time: over ten years of photography experience, extensive training, hours of editing time, top of the line camera equipment, and print packages consisting of prints from one of the best photo printers in the US. For more details about my experience, training, and outlets that have published my work, please visit the about section.
What happens if my child is uninterested in being photographed?
This short review says everything about my skills with photographing children: https://theminimalpi.co.uk/2016/10/26/family-photographer-captures-our-mini-monsters-perfectly/
Do not worry!
I am used to children running in every direction but towards the camera, being sleepy, or just being plain grumpy. I usually work outdoors, near a playground, so that children can play in a fun environment and work out any extra energy. I have previously worked in daycares and schools, as well as having oodles of younger cousins and siblings. Sometimes a quick break is needed, some time on the playground, or bubbles are always the answer. I will work around you and if the session runs long, it won’t be an issue nor will I charge extra. When children under 10 are involved, I normally expect a session to last longer.
What type of equipment do you use?
I use a Canon 5d Mark III, two Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT Flashes, with speedlite transmitters for off camera flash capability and various other filters, lens adapters, umbrellas, and accessories.
How long do we wait to see our photographs?
A password protected, online gallery will be available within one week. Once you have chosen which prints you wish to order, it can take up to five working days for them to be delivered to your door.
Why are some of your product prices more than my local quickie photo printing store?
I offer the highest quality products customers. While they may be a little more expensive than those you see at Target or Walmart, you will be able to tell the difference. All products are designed to last several decades.
Do you show all the photographs you shoot?
No. While I retain all photographs from the session, I only share those that meet my standards.
Do you personally retouch every image?
Yes, each image is professionally edited.
Is it OK for us to take pictures during the shoot?
I like to have the full attention of the person in front of the lens, so I request that you do not take photos during a session.
Are you available to shoot birthdays, company gatherings, or other events?
Yes. Please get in touch with your requirements and let’s go from there.
