Glamping in Wales

I took a recent holiday at Gwdihŵ {goody~hoo • Owl} at Tŷ Cerrig, Tŷ Cerrig Woodland Retreats. I booked my cabin through Canopy and Stars. Below is the description of the cabin, directly from their website.

20160513-wales-002“Settled on the sapling-filled woodlands of Tŷ Cerrig Christmas Tree Farm, the Gwdihŵ shepherd’s hut  is comfortably self-contained and with sheep’s wool for insulation, we couldn’t imagine anywhere lovelier to shelter from a bit of afternoon drizzle. The goose feather duvet on the clever fold-down bed and wood burning stove make it near impossible to leave. With a kitchen that leaves nothing to chance (wine glasses and salad servers are no exception!), a hot shower and flushing loo, you really wouldn’t need to. There’s even a bunk bed for two little ones to sleep in or for post-lunch mellowing out while you wait for your coffee to brew. Bwncath cabin is about 100 metres away, but the meadow is the only thing you’ll be sharing.20160513-wales-004

On top of tree planting and beekeeping, Andrew and Charlotte bake mighty good Welsh cakes – eat yours hot or tuck some away in your backpack along with your maps and guides from the baskets in your hut. You’ll need plenty of hiking fuel for the beautiful long walks all around the Vale of Glamorgan!  Drive out to the coast and fly kites on the beach or visit the Capital city of Wales, Cardiff, only a half hour away.”

I had a wonderful weekend away there and hope to return again soon. Andrew and Charlotte were most helpful, especially when I had some major issues lighting the campfire. The homemade Welsh cakes were divine! And the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, the linens were smooth like butter!

Also, I couldn’t help thinking what an idyllic location this would be for a rustic wedding. Candlelit paths, picnic baskets, a few hay bales, surrounded by Christmas Trees and nature! Speaking of weddings, have you seen my blog about the Free Wedding Photography Giveaway? Nominate someone today!
