Seductive & Sultry (with a delicately placed bowtie) Boudoir Session

Today we’re featuring Alyssa, an athlete and ex-ballerina who surprised her husband with her boudoir photos the night before their wedding!

Alyssa met us in the South Jersey Photography studio and went right into hair and makeup with Kayla. Alyssa brought the lipstick color she’d planned to wear for her wedding day, a personal touch that made her boudoir session even more special. “We just met the day of my shoot, but [Kayla] really ‘got’ what I was going for with a fairly natural look, but chose makeup colors that really complimented my skin tone, and the lipstick I brought – the one I planned to wear for my wedding.  She was very pleasant to chat with and made me feel extremely beautiful and more confident for the shoot.”

Alyssa brought two pieces for her session. The first was a sexy floral embroidered plunge teddy (Victoria’s Secret), and the second a pair of sheer black panties she paired with another personal touch: the bow tie her husband planned to wear on their wedding day! Alyssa says she didn’t have a particular theme for her session, but afterward felt like we’d found the perfect groove.

“I just wanted a generally seductive and sultry vibe, but hadn’t envisioned particular details, so Adrian’s guidance really helped and what we pulled off was better than I could have imagined. She captured such a nice mix of positions highlighting different body parts, especially many that I felt showed strength which made me feel amazing.  The one thing I did want were some pictures wearing just my husband’s bow tie on top, as this shoot was a wedding gift and I thought it would a nice touch for him to know he’d be wearing it on our wedding day. Adrian set up the perfect shots that didn’t feel overly exposed and showed off the bow tie on my body.”

While Alyssa had a nagging moment of self-doubt before her boudoir session, a few poses – and a few sneak peeks from the camera – reignited her confidence. “My body is not very curvy, so I was a bit worried I would look more awkward than sexy and I was nervous about coming up with poses. Adrian took care of that – she gave direction but also captured moments between poses and helped me improvise a bit. It helped me relax that she showed me some shots on her camera, so I got to see right away that they looked great.”

If you’re considering a session, Alyssa has an important message:

“Trust the photographer – they have a vision and they are seeing what will be captured on the camera, which sometimes requires you feeling awkward in a pose – no you might not gaze off over your shoulder like that in real life, but on camera – whoa, do you look intense and sexy! Also, particularly with Adrian, there’s no judgement at all, so if you want to try something – go for it!”

Alyssa, it was an honor to work with you and create intimate images for you and your husband to enjoy together!
