BOUDOIR – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What exactly is boudoir?

Technically it’s bedroom style portraits, but I love to try new locations and really push the definition within each client’s comfort zone.

Boudoir, to me, is all about making women feel amazing and loving themselves exactly as they are. We only do makeup and hair for that pamper factor, not because you don’t look amazing already. Hair and makeup just add to that lush feel of a session.

How long have you been a photographer?

Over 15 years! I won’t list everything here, but if you’d like to read more, check the about page.

Do you have a stylist for hair and makeup or should a client come with that all done?

While hair and makeup are not necessary, we do provide both to add to the pamper factor. Kayla of Level Up Makeup spends about two hours with each client before a session.

Do you have a studio/location for boudoir photos?

I do and I also come to client’s homes, because it can add a personal feel to a session. I also have outdoor locations for the daring!

How long is a session?

The entire session (including hair and makeup) takes up to 4 hours.

What would I wear for a boudoir session?

THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS! And we discuss them all during your consultation. Check this blog for some suggestions and where to purchase. I also create a personalized Pinterest board for each client to pin ideas and looks after we’ve met!

I’m a little self-conscious of some of my “problem areas.” Do you retouch cellulite/regrettable tattoos/pimples/etc?

First, I think scars and “problem areas” aka flaws are what make us different and interesting. I remove pimples because they aren’t a permanent part of your look, so if you wake up with a zit the day of, I’ll zap it. I do retouch a bit for other things if we have discussed beforehand, I never remove anything without a discussion! Major alterations or removing tattoos takes additional time and are discussed on a case by case basis and may be an additional cost.

I’m older than (or not as thin as) the women on your website, can I still book a session?

Of course! I feel bad that people even ask this question! I have photographed women of all ages (over 18 of course), shapes, and colors. Not everyone is comfortable with their portraits being shared so I can’t post every session (and OMG they are all so lovely, it hurts to hide them!). I am passionate about delivering a personalized, unique experience for each one of my clients. My goal is to show women a side of themselves they don’t always see – their beauty, strength, and character.

Will my photos be on the internet?

Not unless you say it’s OK! Every client on the Facebook page, website, or group has given me permission to post their images. If you aren’t comfortable with any images being shared, that is completely fine, just let me know! I ask before the session and confirm again after clients see their images.

How far do you travel?

Well… Outside of the US, I’ve traveled to Spain, England, Iceland, France, Wales, Germany.

I travel to Southeast Florida (Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach Area) twice yearly, New York City and Philadelphia often, Virginia, Washington D.C., North Carolina, Georgia, and more for sessions!

I LOVE to travel. Location does not limit sessions! If you’re in another state or country, please do not hesitate to reach out to discuss your needs!

I’m not sure if I’d be comfortable doing boudoir, but I want to do it – what do you recommend to get me confident??

I send a very detailed session guide before your session to give you tips and tricks. I also do most of the poses with you and really talk you through them. And if you’re really unsure, there are a ton of women who’ve worked with me in our VIP group who I am sure would tell you they felt the same way and after their session they said “I never knew I’d feel so comfortable naked in front of a camera!” EVERYONE has nerves, I will make you laugh at me and help calm your nerves.

Do I have to be naked?

Not at all! We discuss EVERYTHING beforehand and do what YOU are comfortable with, always! And if you decide you want to try some nude poses, you can always change your mind!

Can I have wine/champagne before to loosen up?

It’s not necessary and some people get red when they drink. I promise you’ll feel comfortable without alcohol. Plus some of the poses require balance and I don’t want anyone tipping over.

Are payment plans available?

YES! Payment Plans are available through Square Installments.

First, we will set up your consultation and session date. During the consultation we will go over your ideas and answer any questions you may have. A consultation is important, because it really helps us get to know each other and helps you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. It also gives us the chance to really get creative and tailor the session to YOU! I love incorporating clients’ personalities into their session and making it unique to the individual.
