Today we are featuring Shannon, an avid art collector and athlete who gifted herself a boudoir session because she believes all bodies deserve to be celebrated – and we couldn’t agree more. “One of my favorite things is collecting tattoos as pieces of art! I also love playing travel softball all over the United States and snowboarding in the winter months. Other than that, I’m usually relaxing with my pup!”
Shannon met us in the South Jersey photography studio the morning of her session and jumped right into hair and makeup with Jeannine. “Jeannine was wonderful with a bubbly personality and brought my vision to life!” Shannon wanted her look to be a mix of edge and elegance, and she felt we pulled it off perfectly.
After two hours of pampering, it was time to slip into Shannon’s first look. She brought along three looks for her boudoir session: a green strappy set, nude and black lace set, and a black strappy set all from Playful Promises. When asked if she was nervous leading up to her session, Shannon admitted she had some doubts about how her photos might turn out. “I was nervous about the way my belly or blemishes would look on camera. [But] I was comfortable almost as soon as the shoot started with Adrian’s outgoing personality.” All those doubts melted away, however, when Shannon saw her gorgeous photos at her reveal. “[My favorite part was] the reveal and how many times I said damn, who’s that baddie!?”
When asked to describe her overall experience, Shannon said it was lovely from beginning to end.
“A beautiful experience from beginning to end. Adrian was lovely to work with and focuses on ensuring your shoot isn’t just about the photographs. She makes sure [to] work on transforming your mind and self-image while also creating beautiful art. I felt it was an important step on my own self-love journey. I was a little down and thought it would be a great jumpstart back to the road of positivity.”
As for anyone considering booking a boudoir session of their own, Shannon says it’s the ultimate boost of confidence. “Do it! It’s a great beginning [of] or addition to your own self-love journey.”
