Today we bring you Rachael, who took a chance and stepped out of her comfort zone to gift herself a celebration of her body after years of not appreciating it enough; and as a bonus, her husband got to enjoy her gorgeous boudoir photos too!
Rachael met us in the South Jersey photography studio on the morning of her shoot and first jumped into hair and makeup with Jeanine. Some of our clients prefer to relax and take in the pampering without any chitchat, and Jeanine respected Rachael’s wishes with a calm, quiet glam session. “Jeanine was great, she knew I didn’t want to talk, I just wanted to relax and enjoy.”
After hair and makeup was finished, it was time to slip into Rachael’s first look. She brought a few comfortable items from home which included some cute thongs and a tank. A boudoir session doesn’t have to include elaborate looks (unless that’s what you’re going for); stepping into something simple and cozy is just as sexy. Rachael said she was going for a laidback, romantic vibe, and feels we pulled it off. “Adrian did some magic with her camera.”
While Rachael admits it was hard for her to be vulnerable in front of the camera, the encouragement of other women – past and present clients – in our studio’s private Facebook group helped her to relax before her boudoir session. “I was very nervous because I’m very private with my body. I’ve talked to many women from the group on Facebook giving me all kinds of tips and encouragement which helped me so much.” Our group is an incredibly body-positive, confidence-boosting community of individuals!
When asked to describe her overall experience during her boudoir session, Rachael called it, “Amazing. [Adrian] made me feel like a queen.” Rachael discovered a newfound confidence during her session, and said her favorite part was “finally feeling comfortable enough to say to Adrian, I think I want to do a bewb shot.” We never push our clients to do anything they aren’t completely comfortable with but remain open to any limits they want to push and explore!
Rachael gifted herself a session to finally show her body the love it deserves. “I did this for me. I’ve been body shaming myself for years, telling myself I’m too fat, I need to lose weight. Also, so my husband [could] see me on fire in the studio.” Every body is beautiful and deserves to be celebrated, just as it is.
When asked why she chose House of Rowan, Rachael said she believes Adrian brings a unique approach to boudoir. “[Adrian] has changed the way I look at my beautiful body that I have.”
