You Deserve More Than a Mini

new jersey boudoir photography

I am often asked if I offer minis, so I wanted to share why I do not and more about the full service experience I do offer.

What are minis?

Minis are shortened sessions, typically lasting anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Let me repeat that: 5-15 minutes. Yup, you heard that right, they are very condensed sessions designed to shuttle clients through a studio.

They are quick and impersonal which is the exact opposite of what a boudoir session should be. Minis lessen the personalized, luxury experience for my clients and a boudoir session really should never be made “mini.”

Boudoir photography is a very vulnerable and personal experience and every client should be given full attention and care during the entire process, from prep to session to delivery of final products.

How is our boudoir experience different?

We start with an in person consultation to discover your why and your vision. This consultation lasts about one hour. We discuss everything from styled sessions, what to wear, and your goals for the session.

After your consultation, you will receive prep guides that detail how to get ready, a timeline of when to do pre-pamper appointments, and an in depth styling guide to assist you in choosing what to wear.

Your boudoir session is up to 4 hours long to allow for a relaxed atmosphere.

Your boudoir session offers a day away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. A day to focus on yourself and forget the worry and stress from the usual routine. Hair and makeup, which are included with EVERY boudoir session, are a full two hours of pamper time.

Your boudoir photography session is between 1-2 hours, depending on how quickly you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I do not put a strict time limit so you don’t feel pressured in front of the camera. There is nothing worse than a time limit to create more anxiety during a boudoir session, which should be relaxed and fun. You have up to two hours for your boudoir session (4 hours total including pamper time).

After your session, you return to the studio to choose your favorite images. I help each client choose their portraits during an in-person reveal appointment—instead of the usual impersonal online gallery, which most photographers offer. My clients hire me for the experience and my artistic skill, so I don’t leave them hanging when it’s time to create their wall art and albums. I assist them in curating their selection and deliver bespoke products they can cherish forever.

Health and safety concerns:

Quick, back to back sessions make it impossible maintain health and safety for my clients with all of the in depth cleaning required in between. Cleaning all surfaces, floors, and linens takes time.

And having your intimate bits on used linens and unsanitized surfaces is NOT an experience we will ever offer.

For more details on our sanitation procedures, check out this blog.

A rushed session will also cause injury to a client. Many of the poses require attention and care to make sure they are done properly so you don’t get hurt during your session. Before each session we discuss safety and any physical limitations you may have, this chat alone can take 5-15 minutes.

I like to give every client 100 percent and back to back would drain me creatively making their session suffer. Clients come to me for a luxury and empowering experience. Minis are a disservice to my clients.

Minis are like a one night stand, but I’m here to make you breakfast the next morning.
